a good role model

The movie Half Nelson was quite an interesting movie to watch. A white teacher (Dan) teaches in an urban school where the majority of the populations of students are black; the environment seems tough for most teachers to teach. However, he seems to belong in this community, even though, his life is complicated, chaotic and shows bad examples of what a bad role model is for his students (especially Drey). The way he gestures and talks seems very natural to him. Therefore, it seems that he has a very strong connection and bond with his students.
To young students, a role model greatly influences their life and life decisions even though if it is negatively or positively influenced. A role model has great significance, because it provides a guideline of life and dreams.
Depending on how we think, sometimes a terrible role model can turn out to be a good role model. At the end of the movie, Drey who was dealing drugs witnessed that when she was dealing with her teacher. I can tell that she learned her lesson from looking at him. She finally quit the job and found the right path which showed her that she does not want to end up like her teacher or her brother.
What is a good role model? I believe being a good role model is a person that influences their student’s life in a beneficial manner. There is a comprehensive list of what a teacher should do and should not do. In reality, a teacher cannot be perfect because they are human beings. However, even though, we are imperfect human beings, we should try to make the best of efforts to be good role models for students.
